Blairswolf Tulikki of Ruddyduck

Eeva is a Finnish Lapphund. We had always liked the breed but a couple of year's ago we met a pair at an Obedience Training weekend and fell in love with their joie de vivre. They are intelligent, they love to work and are complete charmers. We did our homework, joined the Finnish Lapphund Club of Great Britain and attended some of their events to get to see different dogs and blood lines. We were still smitten and were lucky enough to be considered for a bitch from the first Blairswolf litter.

Eeva joined us in June 2009. Eeva is named for a Finnish Rally driver, Eeva Heinonen, who was the first Finnish Ladies Rally Champion and held the title from 1971 to 1974. She even had a British co-driver at one point so very apt! We are looking forward to having lots of fun as Eeva grows up. She is a joy to live with - such a character and so loving.

We are hoping for a litter from Eeva in 2013

Eeva went back into the ring at the end of 2011. She was 2nd in Post Graduate at LKA Champ Show and then took BOB at Stourbridge Open and RBOB at Ashbourne & District Open in the post Christmas season.

Her first show of 2012 was Manchester Champ Show. She had a great day starting with her BVA Eye Test (all fine), then passing her KCGCDS Bronze Award and finished off by taking her first Best of Breed at a Championship Show. The rules have changed this year and now BOB & BP at Champ Shows where FInnish Lapphunds do not have CCs qualify for Crufts so on top of everything else Eeva is now qualified for Crufts 2013. What a fantastic day!

In May Eeva and I had our first showing venture onto the Continent with a trip to the World Show in Salzburg. Our judge was Jorgen Hindse from Denmark and he graded Eeva Excellent and placed her first in the Open Bitch class, he then awarded her the CACA and the CACIB so she is World Winner Austria 2012!. We were awarded a lovely cup to commemorate the occasion.

We were also entered at the World Club Show where our judge was Rodi Hubenthal from Sweden. He also graded Eeva Excellent and placed her first in the Oepn Bitch class, he then awarded her the CACA and BEST OF BREED! We were awarded another cup declaring her World Club Winner 2012.

This was Eeva's first time under FCI rules and even without our success it was a wonderful experience, both to see Lapphunds competing together from so many countries and also the opporunity to meet fellow Lapphund exhibitors. Can I just say thank you to you all for making sure I knew what to do and when to go back in the ring (the FCI system is quite different to the UK and its easy for a Brit to get lost).

It was a magical trip in a beautiful setting and well worth the 4 and half days round trip to get there.
